The Stamford and District Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Association comprises over 60 NHW schemes within the Stamford Town Neighbourhood Policing area. Each scheme has a volunteer Coordinator who fulfils a vital community role in maintaining contact with their scheme members, particularly the old and vulnerable. In particular, they distribute relevant information received from a variety of sources, predominantly Lincolnshire Police, though with the introduction of the Lincolnshire Alert on-line resource (www.lincolnshirealert.co.uk) those scheme members who are on-line can now receive this information directly.
The Association is represented on the Stamford Neighbourhood Panel, which meets four times a year with the Stamford Town Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) to set priorities for the NPT based on issues that are reported to be most affecting the local community.
If you are not already a member of a scheme and would like to join one, a number of the Stamford schemes are registered on the national NHW website and the coordinator can be contacted by going to www.ourwatch.org.uk/your_local_area/. (this site can also be accessed via the Lincolnshire Alert website). If you cannot locate a scheme near you, or would perhaps like to start a scheme, contact either the Stamford NPT stamford.npt@lincs.pnn.police.uk or the Community Safety Officer at Lincolnshire Police HQ nhw@lincs.pnn.police.uk.
The Association holds at least two meetings a year.
Details of forthcoming meetings will be published here, on Lincolnshire Alert and in the 'Stamford Mercury'.
Minutes of recent meetings will also be published here.
