GRANTHAM & DISTRICT NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH ASSOCIATION SPRING MEETING MINUTES Monday 12th May 2014 Present : Helen Bill (Chair), Ruth Freeman (Secretary) Sandra Watson (Treasurer) Steve Bill, & 16 others Guests : Joanne Hussey Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue, Steve Pashley Rally Round. ● Apologies Councillor Bob Adams, Councillor Ray Wootton, Councillor Bob Sampson, Richard Cross, Mike Hines, Jane Ford, Angela Eldred and Jenny Hinchcliffe. ● Welcome Helen Bill – Chair welcomed all attendees to the Spring Meeting. Helen introduced the speakers for the evening, Joanne Hussey & Steve Pashley. ● Updates since last meeting Brenda and Mike Gilman have moved from Fulbeck so they are no longer members of Grantham & District Neighbourhood Watch and now come under the Sleaford District. We recognise and thank them for all their hard work and support over the years. Tina Nolan has taken on the role of lead Co-ordinator for Fulbeck. We also welcome Tina onto the Committee of the District Association. ● Treasurers interim report 5/10/13 £1,366.95 03/14 £2,927.76 A grant of £1000.00 from Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner as part of the Junior Eyes project is within this report. ● Junior Eyes Project Almost to the printing stage. Approval has been granted by the various agencies and now waiting on a proof copy to be read. 5000 to be printed and distribution planned from Sept. onwards. Schools within SKDC first – being given to Years 5 and 6. It is hoped that this will be rolled out further afield within Lincolnshire. Lincs Community Safety has asked for 300 to be given out as part of their JPCSO scheme and they will fund them. ● Joanne Hussey, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue There is still the offer of a Home Fire Safety Check – this has progressed so that people can fill in an on-line form and if needed a home visit can be booked. The Fire & Rescue service will come out to your house and do a Home Safety Check. Fire alarms will be fitted if required. There is now a Fire alarm that has a battery life of 10 years. Contact Numbers for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue – Head Office 01522 582222 or Local Office 01476 565441. The Fire Service are also trying to find any hoarders in the area to assist them with making their homes safe. Lincs Fire Service would like NHW to be aware of vulnerable people in their area and if need be point them in the direction of the Fire Service for assistance. First Contact – for the Over 60s, an agency will contact you and provide Telecare and a lifeline button, smoke alarms. Equipment for those who are hard of hearing, etc. Responders to Warm, they can offer products such as heaters, etc. (Home Safety Check Referral Form attached) ● Steve Pashley – Rally Round Rally Round is an on-line and mobile service, that makes it easy for family members and friends, to co-ordinate how they can help a loved one who wants to stay living independently in their own home. Rally Round is ideal for : 1. Family members, friends or neighbours who want to do jobs to help a loved one stay living at home. 2. Someone who is housebound and needs help from family members, friends or neighbours. 3. An informal carer who needs more help from friends & family members. (see attached power point) ● Mrs Alison Clegg Co-ordinator for Kitty Briggs Lane gave a talk regarding 'Then & Now' a comparison of days gone by and today. Community spirit needs to continue and move forward. ● Raffle & Refreshments raised the sum of £25.30 – Thank you ● AOB There was no other business Meeting closed : 8-15pm |
