Call Blockers

Advice re Call Blockers
We are seeing an increasing number of people being targeted by call blocking scams.  These arise from calls from companies offering to block nuisance calls.  They charge in the region of £149 per year (although we are also seeing recurring transactions being taken monthly in some cases) and will ask for payment over the phone.  A call blocking device may then be sent to you in the post, however these devices do not work.

If you are receiving nuisance calls there are several options available to block these.
  • Many telephone service providers offer a free call blocking service.  You can contact your provider direct to access this service.
  • Registering with the telephone preference service(TPS).  Please note that this is FREE and you will NOT be asked to pay anything for the genuine TPS.  Whilst this service will stop unwanted calls from genuine companies, this will not stop scam calls.
  • Telephones with inbuilt call blockers are available to purchase from high street stores.  These screen your calls and also give you the ability to block numbers easily.
  • Alternatively, blocking devices are available which block ALL calls other than the ones you program in.
